THE MAD WHALE

The Mad Whale is a feature film I co-directed. (My first one!) It's set in the 18th century and is about inmates at a women's mental asylum who mount a theatrical production of Moby Dick. Rehearsals soon become a stage for revolt... It's a feminist piece that takes a look at patriarchal oppression, motherhood and female solidarity.

 

The film stars Camilla Belle, Dominic Rain, Michael Weston, Summer Phoenix and James Franco.

It was produced by Elysium Bandini Studios and USC and released in festivals in 2017 and on Amazon Prime in 2018.
